Project V.O.I.C.E. Output 2 – “Guidelines for Empowerment and Active citizenship for people with fewer opportunities” are an elaboration of methodologies, practices and tools for educational and training work that can support and inspire social workers in their work with vulnerable groups.

Empowerment and active citizenship

The development of pathways of individual empowerment and active citizenship, are virtuous tools that allow the increase of the autonomy of the individual, and assume today a central role in social policies that are not limited to providing an answer to existing problems, but want to activate training processes, aimed at increasing self-awareness and the ability to self-determine for individuals and communities. These practices can allow the most disadvantaged categories, to limit the processes of social segregation¨, to reduce gender disparities¨ and to decrease forms of discrimination, thus allowing the development of social skills¨ civic and intercultural appropriate to their inclusion in the social world.

Why the Guidelines?

The paths aimed at improving personal empowerment and promotion of active citizenship in the most disadvantaged people, allow the empowerment of the individual, the recognition of their identity, the ability to activate processes of change and existential planning.  The guidelines are an elaboration of methodologies, practices and tools for educational and training work that can support and inspire social workers in their work with vulnerable groups.

Who is the Guidelines for?

The guidelines are addressed to professionals in the educational sector and facilitate the identification of structured paths of empowerment and active citizenship, directed to vulnerable people, and can improve their skills and soft skills by increasing opportunities for social inclusion.
